October News!
Fall is in full gear, and we are loving the cool breeze and the beautiful leaves! October has been great for Team ZEN, and we wanted to share some highlights with you!
🎃 Salon deZEN’s owner and Master Stylist turned 40 on October 8th! Maria embraces this new decade, and we know she will continue to shine like the star that she is!

🎃 ZEN proudly supported St. Louis Catholic School with their biggest PTO fundraiser of the year, The Hawk-a-thon! ZEN was a “Running with the Hawks Gold Sponsor” and our logo was at the 1.5 mile marker!!! We were so happy to help raise funds that will directly benefit the teachers and students of such an amazing school. Their motto is to love, learn, and lead and we are so on board with these words!!!
🎃 Team ZEN attended a KEVIN MURPHY COLOR.ME GLOSS class! This new line was uniquely designed as a color and treatment in one. This luminous, demi-permanent color goes beyond shine to reconstruct and deeply moisturize the hair for incredible strength that increases every time you color your hair. ZEN stylists are super impressed with this new line, and we can’t wait to introduce it to your hair!!!
🎃 ZEN stylists, Elise and Tricia, attended a Microlines Class by Hair Dreams. Microlines is a life changing type of extension that uses a hair piece made of real human hair to cover thinning or balding. What’s revolutionary about this technique is that the extensions are semi-permanent and last 4-6 weeks instead of the traditional hair piece that you would have to take off daily. 🎃 ZEN is thrilled to welcome Kahli McSorley to our team! Kahli has been creating artful hair for 12 years and specializes in blonding services such as babylights, balayage, highlights, and lowlights. She relishes in working with lived in color and creating show-stopping red heads. Kahli’s warm personality will make you feel like you’ve known her forever. 🎃 ZEN was a proud participant of Old Town Alexandria’s Trick or Treat and Doggie Trick or Treat. It was so much fun to see our community unite to make such a special day for both children and pets. We loved seeing all of the costumes and even spotted a Care Bear and a duck walking in ZEN’s door.
🎃 As we say farewell to October, we are looking ahead to November. November 17th is World Pancreatic Cancer Day. On this day, ZEN will shine purple lightbulbs to show our support, and we hope you will, too! Switch out any lightbulb to purple to help us shed more light on this deadly disease. In addition, ZEN will be offering purple extensions for the month of November, and a portion of the proceeds will go directly to Pan Can to help create better outcomes for individuals with pancreatic cancer.
