The month of May is often associated with the goddess Maia. She embodied the concept of growth, both in nature and in business. We don't think it's a coincidence that the goddess Maia's name is almost identical to ZEN's founder/owner/stylist, Maria, who clearly embodies the concept of growth in business as she just graduated from the Goldman Sachs 10K Small Business Program!!! Team ZEN is so proud of our leader and we are excited for her to bring all of her amazing learnings to the salon. Plus, let's all be honest, EVERYONE is happy that she'll be back on the floor creating exquisite hair.

At ZEN, we are embracing this new season while celebrating the close of Spring. Here's what's been happening behind the scenes…
☀️ Team ZEN attended a Kevin Murphy Gloss Class on May 1st. This NEW gloss line is uniquely designed as a color and treatment in one. This treatment lays on the shine but it also reconstructs and deeply moisturizes the hair for incredible strength that increases every time you color. From fashion hues to subtle neutrals and everything in between, there is a gloss combo that is perfect for your hair color dreams. Our hair model for this class (check out her selfie below ♥️), chose deep warm chocolate with undertones of red and she left ZEN feeling refreshed, renewed, and full of shine. ☀️ The “Parent and Me” Event at Lost Boy Cider on May 6th from 11:30-2:30 was a blast! ZEN stylists created princess-worthy hairstyles. Rapunzel even made an appearance and glitter gel was made. Thank you to everyone who joined us for this fun family event. ☀️ ZEN loves YOU and we were so excited to celebrate your awesomeness at our Guest Appreciation Event on May 6th. She's Unique showcased the newest trend, permanent jewelry and lots of fun was had. It was so wonderful to have an evening event that honored our ZEN Faves. ♥️

☀️ Looking ahead to June 3rd, ZEN will be an exhibitor at the 6th Annual Alexandria Pride event from 2-5pm at Alexandria City Hall - Market Square (301 King Street, Alexandria VA). Collect Pride swag, enjoy music and food, make some art and get your face painted, pose for a Pride pic, and learn about LGBTQ+ inclusive stores in Alexandria. ZEN will be offering braid services with the option for glitter if you are feeling a little extra. It is going to be a blast! We can't wait to see you there!
